Taking Drugs While Pregnant

The information source on drug usage while pregnant and to become pregnant

The biological response to stress was developed in humans when our ancestors faced life and death situations. Modern life however is more about emotional stress than physical. And the strange part is that despite the fact that psychological stress is much higher than that in the Stone Age, the human body has not been able to adjust to constant psychological stress.

Constant or severe stress leads to a situation where you are on high alert every time you come across a problem. This happens irrespective of whether it is a simple matter of getting late for office due to a traffic jam or some serious health condition that you are facing. Stress in such conditions is like a fire alarm that is always on and keeps you awake all the time.

Hormones released during a stress response bring about physical changes in the body and keep the body tense. Ideally the body should return to its original normal state after a brief period of stress but continuous stress and the consequent persistently high level of these hormones cause physical stress symptoms.

It is commonly known is that severe stress causes cardiovascular problems and tension headaches but the fact is that stress affects your overall health  and can various other physical symptoms can appear anywhere in the body.

This happens because blood is diverted from the systems that are not necessary for immediate survival, towards other organs of the body that need to face the stressor. The reduction in blood supply to these organs negatively affects these vital organs over time.

Severe stress has been associated with peptic ulcers, skin problems like hives, asthma, infertility, post menstrual syndrome, irritable bowel syndrome and migraines.

Severe stress also affects the immune system and unresolved stress leads to a situation where it starts working against the body instead of protecting it. Chronic stress makes you more vulnerable to opportunistic infections like common cold and influenzas and much more.

Some amount of stress is necessary to egg you on to perform better. A stressor by itself does not lead to the debilitating stress symptoms. The strongest evidence in support of this is that the same stressor that brings about a strong stressful reaction from one person may not produce any reaction from another individual.

Irrespective of how severe a particular stressor may be, stress is caused only if you consider the stressor to be a problem in your subjective judgment. Managing stress becomes easy if you focus on the positive aspects and shed negativity.

You wake up in the middle of the night to go to the bathroom, all the while you are up your mind is racing, filled with “what if” thinking. Just in the few minutes that it takes for you to walk to the bathroom you may have already had as many as ten different thoughts.

As you climb back into bed, the thinking has filled your head so much that you can not fall back to sleep again. As you lay there wondering and worrying about things that are likely not even in your control, you watch the minutes that turn into hours just tick away. If this sounds like you, then you are suffering from insomnia that is likely caused from anxiety.

Research has found a very strong link between insomnia and anxiety as when a person suffers from one it is likely that they will suffer from both. As you are lying in bed, filled with anxiety, the anxiety will actually surmount causing your brain to become even more active, which makes it even more impossible to sleep. This condition would not be defined as something that happens occasionally but rather frequently.

Sometimes doing something as simple as turning the TV on in your room with a low volume but so you can still hear it and putting on something that is funny will really help. You will eventually fall asleep and what you are hearing on the TV will divert your anxious thoughts.

Anxiety related insomnia falls under a few different categories such as Transient insomnia which is usually associated with situational stress. In other words, perhaps you have an upcoming job, a presentation, an exam, or a move.

Short term insomnia lasts for six months or less that are generally related to a death, an illness, or maybe environmental factors. Finally, there is chronic insomnia which can be contributed to a variety of factors that may require a medical or psychological evaluation to determine the exact cause.

There can be many stages of insomnia which can range from short term to long term insomnia. Insomnia can then increase anxiety which can lead to many other conditions later on. The mere frustration of sleep deprivation alone can manifest into many other serious conditions.

Do you find yourself finding at least one particular event to dwell on and by nighttime that thought or thoughts have completely taken over your train of thought?

When this happens it could be that your mind is racing so quickly thinking of what you will do, what you could have done differently, what you could say if given another chance, and so on. These things will prohibit sleep faster than anything will.

Untreated anxiety can easily lead to panic disorder which is why you should be seen by a doctor right away and remember that there are so many new and very friendly and natural medications available today to treat anxiety; you will be so grateful that you went.

If you have anxiety related insomnia there is no reason to suffer with it for another day because there is help available.

Metabolism is important because it establishes the rate at which calories are burned from the food that we consume and it can also determine how easily we lose weight or how quickly we can gain weight. Not every individual will burn calories at the same rate.

There are many things that influence our rate of metabolism. Metabolism is influenced by age. Every decade of life, our metabolisms slow at a rate of about 5% per decade after we turn 40. Sex, also can determine our metabolism rate because males generally burn calories when they are resting than females do.

The proportion of lean body mass, which is the amount of muscle you have) determines the rate of metabolism too because the more muscle the faster your metabolic rate tends to be. Heredity also can make a difference in your metabolic rate too. Defects in the thyroid gland can also slow down metabolism, although this is a rare occurrence.

The more weight you are carrying on your frame, the higher your metabolism is because the extra weight causes your body to work harder, so the metabolism runs faster to keep up with your body.

This is why people tend to lose weight faster at the start of a diet than later on, because they weigh more at the beginning of their diet thus their metabolism is faster.

Later on, especially with fad diets in which you are more likely to lose muscle as well as fat, your metabolism slows down so much that it is difficult to lose weight, and you may even begin to put weight back on. When you weigh less, your body has to work less, so the metabolism slows.

Some of these things that affect metabolism we can’t change but luckily there are other influences that we can have some control over. Exercise is one way that we can influence metabolism. Aerobic workouts especially can burn more calories in a short time frame.

Weight training can build more muscle so that our metabolism will be faster. The more muscles you have the higher your resting rate of metabolism will be. Every pound of muscle that we have in our body burns 35 calories a day.

Each pound of fat in our body only burns 2 calories a day. Weight training has a longer lasting effect on boosting our metabolism than aerobic exercise does. More muscle also means that you can eat more and gain less weight. Exercise burns calories and makes muscle. It is important to exercise for both reasons.

Eating more means you will gain more weight, but eating more often means that you will lose more weight if the more often also means eating smaller meals. The more frequent meals help to keep your metabolism in higher gear than eating 3 large meals.

Those who snack also have greater energy output than those who don’t snack, and only eat 3 large meals. Snacking also can help you to eat less during meals. Following the more frequent eating pattern can lead to less calories consumed with a higher metabolic rate, which will result in a reduction in body fat.

Why is it important to know what type of headache you have? When you know what type of headache you have it is easier to focus on the cause of the headache so that you can feel better faster and also so that you can prevent getting another headache in the future or at least minimize the amount of headaches you get.

Did you know that there are over 300 types and causes of headaches? Everyone gets headaches at one point in their lifetime. Some individuals get more headaches than other do. 99% of the U.S. population gets a headache occasionally.

You may even get more than one type of headache. You can even get more than one type of headache at the same time!

Did you know that there are different way to categorize headaches? There are two basic types of headaches. The one type of headache is called a secondary headache because it is caused by another problem and when you solve the problem the headache goes away.

Examples of secondary headaches are headaches caused by getting hit in the head or other trauma, or when you are sick with a cold or flu, or when you have a serious illness like meningitis.

Sinus headaches and headaches as a result of allergies are secondary headaches. When making a diagnosis, a doctor will always try to rule out secondary causes for your headache first.

The second type of headache is called a primary headache. When you have a primary headache, the problem IS the headache. Migraines are primary headaches.

Some will classify headaches into the following categories:

Tension-type headaches
Migraine headache
Cluster headache
Hormone headache
General misc. type of headache

Under the General or misc. category of headache falls rebound headaches that are medication-induced headaches sometimes caused by over-medicating yourself. Then, there are sinus headaches and organic headaches, which are headaches as a result of an abnormality in the brain or skull.

Malignant brain tumors, brain aneurysms, hematomas, meningitis, brain abscesses, brain infections, a cerebral hemorrhage, and also encephalitis cause organic types of headaches.

The individual can determine some types of headaches and other types need to be diagnosed by a doctor. Organically caused headaches need to be diagnosed by a doctor. In order to determine the type of headache you are having, keep a headache journal.

In the journal record everything you did before the headache such as what foods you ate, if you were emotional or stressed out, or if you were smoking or drinking prior to the headache.

Stress may seem to be an unavoidable situation these days. But the fact of the matter is that in most cases, we ourselves are responsible for the stress in our lives. It is only convenient for us to lay the blame on others or life situations.

Stress can be caused due to a number of psychological or physical factors. In our race to the top, we tend to overwork ourselves (mostly in a poor posture) and invite physical stress. We prefer to look at situations and circumstances from a negative point of view because that allows us a convenient scapegoat. And this habit of looking at the negative side of events becomes a major cause of mental stress.

There are many ways to relieve stress if you are looking at typical stress relief after you are stressed out already. Believe it or not, sometimes simply screaming at a wall helps in giving a sense of wellness and control. The best techniques for stress management, however, are physical relaxation, focusing on breathing and avoiding stressors.

Stress can be managed by consuming the right kind of foods. This is especially because stress causes certain physiological changes in our system that can be managed well with a good diet.

Stress can disrupt blood sugar levels to a great extent. Avoid foods with added sugar to maintain blood sugar levels. Caffeine is a stimulant but contributes to anxiety as well. If you must, then drink tea instead of coffee and other caffeinated drinks since tea has 66% less caffeine as compared to coffee.

Foods for stress relief are the ones that supply sufficient vitamins for the synthesis of serotonin. People with vitamin deficiencies are more prone to stress than those who eat a balanced diet that ensures sufficient supply of Vitamin B and B complex vitamins.

- Vegetables, especially dark green leafy vegetables are a healthy source of vitamin B. Consuming broccoli that is rich in folic acid, another vitamin B, which is essential for cell growth and reproduction, helps in the reduction of stress.
– Almonds are rich in vitamin B2, vitamin E, magnesium and zinc. Eat almonds to satisfy your urge to snack but make sure you eat small quantities at a time as they also rich in fat.
– Whole grains are complex carbohydrates that are digested slowly and keep you satiated and possibly happier for longer periods.
– Prefer fish over red meats as they are full of all important B vitamins. Vitamin B12 is one of the important vitamins involved in production of serotonin and its deficiency can even lead to depression.

Although there is no medical evidence to support the belief that consumption of certain foods can relieve stress of any type, we often see people indulge in binge eating or eating treats they enjoy to get rid of occasional stress. This aspect of managing stress can be used in a better way to provide specific nutrients to prevent stress.

PureCalm by Native Remedies is what I use to help relieve stress – I have also used it for my son who is ADHD and my teen daughter who suffers from panic attacks.

Type 1 Diabetes is less common than Type 2 Diabetes. It generally affects children, teens and youth. In the United States the usual age for diagnosis is around age 14. Type 1 Diabetes is when there is a deficiency or lack of insulin in the body.

The pancreatic cells quit producing insulin for an unknown reason. When there is not enough insulin in the blood, the blood glucose level rises unchecked. Symptoms of hyperglycemia can result from a too-high glucose level in the blood.

Hyperglycemia is when blood glucose levels are too high. The meaning is from hyper meaning high, glyc meaning glucose, and emia meaning blood. Common symptoms of hyperglycemia are blurred vision, fatigue, weight loss, poor wound healing, dry mouth, dry or itchy skin, and male impotence, and also recurring infections.

Type 1 Diabetes is an autoimmune disorder so the body actually creates the disease. Experts believe that the potential for developing Type 1 Diabetes is a genetic tendency or perhaps triggered by a viral infection such as having influenza, mumps, rubella, measles, or encephalitis.

Two individuals both coming down with the same virus and only one of the two (the one genetically prone to diabetes) will actually develop diabetes and the other will not.

Children of Type 1 diabetic fathers are more likely to develop Type 1 themselves than children of Type 1 diabetic mothers according to research.

Type 1 Diabetes is treated with insulin shots, which may be done using an insulin pump. Insulin would be destroyed if it were to enter the stomach so it has to be injected.

According to a study conducted by the University of Pittsburgh Graduate School of Public Health, gaining body fat may be a good thing for individuals who have Type 1 Diabetes. The study showed that individuals with Type 1 Diabetes who gained weight over time were less likely to die.

The conclusion was that when individuals gained weight it protected people with Type 1 diabetes from premature death. Gaining a reasonable amount of weight is a sign that the individual is getting enough insulin and are managing their disease.

Type 1 Diabetes affects more than 3 million individual in the United States.

Beta cell regeneration is research being conducted in order to find a cure for Type 1 Diabetes, according to the Sanford Project. If the project is successful at determining the possibility of regenerating the beta cells within the pancreas that would be excellent news for anyone suffering from Type 1 Diabetes.

What you eat right before and during your pregnancy can affect the health of your growing baby. Even before you start trying to get pregnant, you should take special care of your health. Eat healthy meals and snacks and take a multivitamin every day. If you’re unsure about eating healthy during pregnancy, talk to your doctor.

Do I really need to “eat for two?”

Pregnant woman measuring bellyWhile you are pregnant, you will need additional nutrients to keep you and your baby healthy. But, that does not mean you need to eat twice as much. You should only eat an extra 300 calories per day. A baked potato has 120 calories. So getting these extra 300 calories doesn’t take a lot of food.

Make sure not to restrict your diet during pregnancy either. If you do, your unborn baby might not get the right amounts of protein, vitamins, and minerals. Low-calorie diets can break down a pregnant woman’s stored fat. This can lead to the production of substances called ketones. Ketones can be found in the mother’s blood and urine and are a sign of starvation. Constant production of ketones can result in a mentally retarded child.

Cushy LipsFace it. I think there’s no any woman on the Earth that doesn’t want fuller, sexier lips. And if you are pregnant you need to improve the way you look to attrack men’s attention to you and not to your belly (to tell the truth even your belly could look sexy but it’s the subject of my future review). So, the number of cosmetic procedures performed every year is proof! Most of us lust after celebrities who have a sexy pout and we try to imitate it by being a bit too generous with lipstick or in rare cases, resort to painful collagen injections.

Luckily, thanks to cushy lips, none of this is necessary. Give yourself fuller lips instantly with CushyLips lip plumper and lip gloss! Unfortunately for us, the size and shape of our lips is genetically determined, however we do not necessarily need to put up with what nature gave us! IF you feel your lips could use a boost, Cushylips is exactly what you need!
